Hi everyone, this week’s You’ve Got It Made interview features Lorri of the delightful Knot and Bead Co.
Hello! My name is Lorri McPherson, and I am a graphic designer from Sydney. I design and create handmade polymer clay jewellery.
How did you get started?
I’ve always been interested in clay and sculpting, but it wasn’t until I went to a polymer clay jewellery course, where I learnt the basics of building a polymer clay necklace, that I found my passion. This turned out to be great timing as before the course I had a hand injury – working the polymer clay helped me build back the strength in my hand.
What was your inspiration?
I have always found it difficult to find jewellery to match my outfits so I decided to make my own! But my process has recently changed: I started crafting necklaces based on existing outfits, but now I go looking for outfits to match my new necklaces and earrings!
So what’s in store for Knot and Bead Co. in 2017?
I’ll be launching a new style of necklace this year, featuring diamond-shaped beads made from marbled blue tones. I also run a guinea pig adoption and health care blog, Patrice the Guinea Pig, so I’ll be designing new earrings inspired by guinea pigs.
